Sustainable smart home provider ecobee Inc. has launched Smart Security, a system that combines professionally monitored home security with ecobee thermostats and sensors and powered by emergency response provider RapidSOS. ecobee customers can now access 24/7 professional monitoring for enhanced home protection via the ecobee app. ecobee will continue to add new features and functionality to the professional monitoring experience in the coming months.

Previously known as Haven, ecobee Smart Security is a comprehensive home monitoring system that combines professionally monitored home security with ecobee thermostats and sensors to protect homes and families against break-ins and fires while also delivering enhanced energy savings and freeze detection. Customers that sign up for professional monitoring get another layer of protection and are eligible for select insurance discounts of up to 10 percent per month, potentially offsetting the entire monthly subscription, depending on the insurance provider.

Current ecobee thermostat customers can upgrade to a professional monitoring system by adding ecobee’s SmartSensors for doors and windows to protect entryways, starting at $79.99. For an additional layer of security, ecobee offers the SmartCamera with voice control for $99.99, which supports smoke alarm detection and an optional video verification feature, enabling monitoring centers to view footage during alarm events and accelerate dispatch.
