LVC Companies announced it has earned the Minnesota Safety Council’s Governor’s Safety Award for its commitment to workplace safety and health.

Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program.

Of 191 total award winners, LVC was one of 68 employers recognized for meritorious achievement. Attaining this level of recognition required having incidence rates better than the industry average for at least three years, and earning high marks on a stringent 100-point safety program evaluation scale. This marks the 12th time since 2007 that LVC has received a Governor’s Safety Award.

“During a time that has challenged all of us in many ways, we are honored to recognize LVC Companies for their award,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Congratulations to LVC for helping make life safer inside their organization and beyond.”

The Minnesota Safety Council, founded in 1928, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Minnesota by preventing unintentional injuries on the road, at work, at home, and in the community. LVC received SDM’s Systems Integrator of the Year distinction in 2018.

“Creating a safe environment for our employees, customers, and other workers on our jobsites is a top priority for LVC,” said LVC President and CEO Bert Bongard. “Our safety committee — which is comprised of office and field staff members from all LVC divisions — works with management year-round to keep everyone safe on the job, increase safety awareness, and strengthen LVC’s deeply ingrained safety culture. We are always looking to improve and act on needed initiatives, and repetitive reminders are sent out weekly through human resources and the safety committee.”
