Mission 500, a 501c3 charitable organization born from the professional security industry, raised over $90,000 at the organization’s annual Security 5k/2k Run/Walk at ISC West 2022 in Las Vegas.
“We are once again blown away by the contributions and efforts put forth by the security industry to raise money for children and communities in crisis,” said Tracy Larson, co-chairwoman of Mission 500. “It was great to gather in person again as an industry to rally around such a great cause. We sincerely appreciate all those who donated, fundraised, sponsored, and participated in the Security 5k/2k this year and we look forward to doing it all over again next year!”
Security 5k/2k Run/Walk participants gathered at the starting line on Thurs., March 24 at 7:30 a.m. to kick off the race. A total of 350 registrants signed up for this year’s race, including virtual registrants who were unable to attend the event in person. Funds raised through race registration, event sponsorship, and fundraising will directly benefit children and families in need across the United States.
Top performing race participants, as well as top corporate and individual fundraisers, were recognized at the Mission 500 5K/2K Award Ceremony held on Thursday, March 24 at 4 p.m. at The Bridge on the ISC West show floor. The top individual fundraiser was Ronnie Pennington of Altronix, raising $2,850 in just a few short months. The fastest team of the day was Alarm.com, with an average time of 21 minutes. The fastest male and overall winner was Jim Highsmith with an overall time of 19:17. Complete race results can be found at www.security5kreg.com.
Also announced at the Mission 500 5K/2K Award Ceremony were the winners of Mission 500’s annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Humanitarian Awards. Axis Communications, a long-term sponsor of Mission 500 for the last decade, was honored with the CSR Award for their charitable work across various fields in 2021. Chris Mosley, president and CEO of Complete Security Systems, received the Mission 500 Humanitarian Award, recognizing his continuous philanthropic work.
Mission 500 also hosted a Care Pack Event on the ISC West show floor at Booth 25057 where visitors were invited to pack a bag of essential items for families in need. Show attendees assembled over 500 packs which were delivered post-show to Nevada Health Centers benefitting their Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program.
