EPS Security, based in Grand Rapids, Mich., announced it completed the acquisition of Maximum Security & Sound of Gaylord, Mich., welcoming nearly 450 new business and residential customers to the EPS family.

The acquisition, completed on June 1, included the Gaylord-based office along with retention of Maximum Security & Sound staff.

The newly acquired Maximum Security & Sound customers will strengthen EPS Security’s customer base in Northern Michigan, furthering the growth of the company as the largest family-owned security provider in the state, and among the largest in the United States, according to the announcement.

“Randy [Karkutt] and his company have been well-respected in the Gaylord area for more than 20 years, and we are very fortunate to have members of his team join EPS Security,” said Kevin Carlson, president of EPS Security. “Together, we will be able to provide security and exceptional customer service to more homes and businesses in Northern Michigan.”

Karkutt explained that Maximum Security was launched in the spring of 1999 to fill a void left by Protection One in the residential and commercial security market. “Our goal was to provide the best security service to our customers to include all aspects of the business — security, fire, access control, video surveillance, monitoring, etc.,” he added.

In the near future, EPS will begin transitioning Maximum Security & Sound customers who are subscribed to 24/7 monitoring service to the company’s owned and operated central station in Grand Rapids.
