Pye-Barker Fire & Safety has acquired Security Solutions Inc. (SSI) of Norwalk, Conn. A family-run business for more than three decades, SSI has built a solid presence with customers from Greenwich to New Haven.
Pye-Barker is enabled through SSI’s addition to bring its full suite of fire protection and security alarm services to new communities, according to an announcement. This latest purchase follows Pye-Barker's May 22 announcement of its acquisition of Vermillion Systems in Central Indiana.
Founded and led by the Orvis family, SSI has created a stellar reputation in the Northeast, offering security alarms, fire alarms, video surveillance, access control and 24-7 monitoring. Current President James “Jamie” Orvis is well-known for his leadership within the Electronic Security Association (ESA), which recognized him with the 2009 Person of the Year Award, and the Alarm Industry Research and Educational Foundation (AIREF), where he founded the AIREF Golf Classic to fund industry research and training.
As innovators in the electronic security space, the Orvis family has instilled an entrepreneurial spirit in its company culture, empowering team members to make decisions in the best interest of the customer, the announcement stated.
“SSI has been leading and moving the industry forward for over 30 years, and I'm eager to watch how Pye-Barker will build upon our legacy of innovation and expertise to take us to new heights,” Orvis said.
The SSI team will continue to serve customers in Connecticut.
“The Orvis family has grown Security Solutions Inc. from a small alarms provider to a leading systems integration business by staying on the forefront of new technology and building a team that is empowered through ongoing training,” said Bart Proctor, Pye-Barker CEO. “The SSI team will make a great addition to Pye-Barker as we work toward a unified goal of protecting every community.”
Pye-Barker Fire & Safety bills itself as the largest fully integrated and full-service fire protection, life safety and security services provider in the United States. The company, with more than 200 locations and 6,000 team members nationwide, ranked and No. 8 on the 2024 SDM 100.
