Nice, a leader in home and building management solutions, said that it has reached a definitive agreement to sell its health and wellness brand, Numera, a global provider of personal emergency response system (PERS) products, to Malar Group.

The decision to divest from the PERS industry marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategic roadmap to accelerate growth and innovation in North America, according to an announcement.

Closing the transaction is a critical step in simplifying the Nice portfolio and strengthening its focus on the company’s core business. In this next stage of growth, Nice said it is accelerating the expansion and integration of brands to create a more robust, powerful whole-home solution for its partners and end-users.

“We deeply value the Numera brand and its contributions to consumer safety and security, and we are confident that Numera will continue to thrive under Malar Group’s leadership, serving a vital need in the health and wellness market,” said Luca Longhin, president of Nice North America. “Looking ahead, our strategic focus remains steadfast on innovating and delivering best-in-class home management and security solutions for our core customer base.”

Numera has long been recognized for its pioneering contributions to telehealth and telecare monitoring solutions, enhancing health and safety in the home for over 20 years. Its advanced and easily implemented technologies allow monitoring service providers and health-related companies to offer personal safety, health and wellness tracking, and social engagement services to their customers, the announcement stated.

“This transaction provides Nice with an opportunity to sharpen its focus on home management and security while allowing Numera to further realize its potential under new ownership,” said Longhin. “We believe that Numera’s strengths in delivering reliable and affordable telehealth solutions will continue to grow and benefit even more customers.”

Malar Group, a Canadian corporation, holds ownership interest in over 18 companies with a strong presence in telecommunications, healthcare, technology and real estate. Malar Group Founder Sayan Navaratnam, said, “Numera will be a key area of focus for Malar Group as we see significant opportunities to leverage its market leading technologies to support and enable the healthcare and preventative care markets globally. We look forward to investing and growing Numera with a focus on customer service and excellence built on cutting-edge technology.”
