Hirsch, a prominent name in physical security and digital identity solutions, is making a comeback following Identiv’s merger of its biometrics division with Vitaprotech.

The Hirsch brand, which has been around for over four decades, now offers a comprehensive end-to-end platform that caters to businesses ranging from small enterprises to critical national infrastructure. The company's portfolio spans access control, video intelligence, cybersecurity and digital identity solutions.

Hirsch is said to now generate $185 million in revenue and has a workforce of 700 employees. The merger has added 100 software engineers from Vitaprotech, further boosting the company’s capabilities.

Mark Allen has been appointed as the new CEO, with a focus on leveraging the increased engineering talent to fast-track the development of cutting-edge security solutions.

As part of the merger, the platform will see significant growth, incorporating command and control systems (PSIM), credentialing, door readers, sensors, and perimeter protection technologies. Hirsch also provides identity systems, including FIDO2 security keys, to combat data breaches and identity theft.

Earlier this year, Identiv introduced the ScrambleFactor, a three-factor biometric access control device designed for use with the Hirsch Velocity security management system.

“Today’s security managers face technical challenges across cybersecurity, cloud, mobile, back-door threats, and more, while managing tight budgets and requirements to leverage in-place investments,” stated Steve Humphreys, former Identiv CEO and newly appointed Vitaprotech deputy CEO. “Hirsch’s promise has always been highly secure, enterprise scale, cost-effective, and enduring solutions that are both open and complete.”
