The Monitoring Association (TMA) Standards Committee has received confirmation from ANSI that the Public Comment Period for its TMA-ATN-01 Monitoring Center Notification of Active Threat Detection is officially now open through April 1, 2025.
“The development of the Active Threat (Detection) Notification (ATN) Standard by TMA represents a significant advancement in the classification and reporting of ATN events, benefiting both the security industry and public safety sectors,” said Mark McCall, co-chair, TMA-ATN-01 Standard Committee. “The standard outlines a uniform approach to handling active threat events, acknowledges, integrates various detection technologies, and provides detailed guidelines on record-keeping, data management, and process monitoring.
McCall continued, “By categorizing threats into actionable groups based on confirmation levels, public safety can prioritize their responses more effectively, potentially saving lives by addressing the most critical situations first. Overall, the goal of this standard is to significantly enhance the synergy between the security industry and public safety, fostering a safer environment through more informed and rapid responses to active threats.”
