Astro is IE Keyprocessor’s new, Web-based, stand-alone access control system. It is especially suited for use in small- to medium-size businesses. Astro can control a single door (with one or two readers), two doors, barriers, or turnstyles. A large assortment of readers, including the advanced Mifare proximity-based readers, can be used. Astro can be programmed locally and remotely. The browsable HTML interface makes Astro an exceptional system. This feature allows local programming and management using a laptop or PDA: the only requirement is the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape. In addition, Astro is Web based: the system can be managed over the Internet. This enables specialized security management providers to offer remote management to their customers.
