Loss Prevention Services Inc. (LPS), Clemmons, N.C., has changed its business focus and received the Underwriters Laboratories designation for its alarm monitoring service.

LPS' business comes primarily from working with independent alarm system installation companies, offering free service promotions and volume discounted rates that installers then can pass on to the consumer. Although LPS does not install alarms, the public can call the company directly to request its monitoring service, and LPS will arrange for the system to be put in by one of its installation partners.
