Securitas Systems has acquired PEI Systems Inc., a large electronic security systems integrators in the New York Metropolitan area. Securitas Systems is a worldwide integrator with operations in more than 30 countries, and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. PEI Systems, Long Island City, N.Y., has more than 30 years of experience in the security industry and is a supplier of integrated security and surveillance services to blue chip customers (Fortune 500-type companies) in the New York and New Jersey area. The acquired company’s annual sales for 2006, was approximately $11.4 million — 20 percent of that is a part of their service contract portfolio. PEI has 40 employees and the acquisition is expected to have a neutral contribution to Securitas’ sales and results for 2007.

“PEI is very strong in the New York metro market, so for us it gives us a great deal of strength in a very important security market,” Marty Guay, chief operating officer at Securitas Systems in the United States toldSDM. Guay added that PEI employees have a high degree of technical knowledge and quality in their offerings, which was another attractive point for Securitas. “Also, the company’s long-term service strategies with their customers is very strong,” he said. The acquisition will allow Securitas to reach a market it previously has not been very strong in, according to Guay.

“The acquisition of PEI Systems is a good example of how we will increase our ability to supply security systems to the important blue chip sector. The company is an experienced security systems integration firm and has a good reputation for providing superior, custom-fit security systems to its customers. The acquisition of PEI Systems is in line with our strategy to increase the service element in our U.S. operations,” said Juan Vallejo, president and CEO of Securitas Systems AB in a statement.
