The 2008 First Alert Professional Dealer Convention occurred from November 13 through 16 at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes in Orlando, Fla. With a theme of Creating Magic, approximately 800 customers from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America were present to learn about a variety of topics.

“At every convention, we try to provide innovative content to help our independent dealer network maintain their position as the top leaders in the industry. Our team works extremely hard to prepare an agenda that includes solid ideas to help our customers enhance their operations and grow their businesses. In addition, our social events give them the opportunity to network with their peers and create lasting business relationships. Based on the feedback I have received from those in attendance, the event was a great success and many have already implemented some of the practices they learned at the meeting,” explained Joe Sausa, president of First Alert Professional Security Systems.

Featured speaker Ron Rothman, president of Honeywell Security & Custom Electronics, delivered an energetic presentation at the opening session. He explained the product innovations that Honeywell is developing to help dealers succeed and he shared information about methods to improve customer retention.

During the three-day event, the First Alert Professional team offered this prestigious group ideas for continued success. From dealer roundtables to customer panels, dealers attended informative educational sessions. In addition, there were several award presentations throughout the meeting. The 2008 First Alert Professional life safety award was presented by Sausa to Jacksonville firefighter Chip George. George was involved in saving fellow firefighters in two separate incidents, including the Jacksonville Humane Society fire, which received national coverage.

Sausa also awarded 22 dealers with Community Service awards. From holding fire safety days to participating in charity pledge events, these dealers are committed to helping others. Two winners also spoke to explain how participating in Community Service has enhanced their businesses.

During the closing awards banquet, First Alert Professional also honored dealers for their hard work throughout the year. There were grand prize winners in the sales consultant contest and dealer contest as well as awards in a variety of categories such as Technical, Sales and Marketing.
