DVTel Inc., was awarded the Project of the Year award at IFSEC 2010 for its work in the Republic of South Africa preparing for the June 2010 World Cup.

DVTel’s winning project implemented its intelligent Security Operations Center (iSOC) management platform at Johannesburg, Capetown, Durban and multiple other airports in Republic of South Africa.  Renovations and upgrades were made in preparation for the June 2010 World Cup when South African authorities expect passenger traffic to total 40 million with the majority of this traffic passing through the three largest airports in the region.

DVTel’s iSOC platform was chosen because of its flexibility in transitioning legacy analogue equipment while accommodating the latest IP technology, making it highly cost competitive while delivering superior performance.   DVTel’s iSOC software manages more than 2,000 cameras — a combination of IP cameras and encoder technology for legacy cameras.

"Airport management was very clear that everything security was going IP and it needed to go on the IT infrastructure,” said David Petrook, DVTel managing director for EMEA.  “Our ability to handle existing analogue legacy equipment preserved the airport’s investment and our level of service, support, and technology assured the airports we would be there through the two-to-three-year transition to advanced IP technology.  We are delighted that this project was recognized by the industry and are proud to be a part of the esteemed group of winners showcased."

The IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2010 were handed out to the winners at a black-tie gala dinner at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.  The ten winners were presented with their awards, which recognized the people, products and technological advancements that have shaped the security industry over the past year.

James Kelly, chief executive of the British Security Industry Association, said, "These awards bring the security industry together for a very special celebration of achievements. The security industry prides itself on innovation and this year's IFSEC Security Industry Awards highlight just how committed the industry is to producing excellence.  All of the winners are to be congratulated on their achievements and should be justly proud of the contribution that they are making to our industry."
