DataDirect Networks (DDN) announced the qualification of Omnicast, Genetec’s IP video surveillance software system, with award-winning DDN storage solutions, which provide a highly scalable, secure backbone for many of the world’s most content-intensive data environments.
For Genetec customers, DDN provides real-time storage built from the ground up for scalable streaming to deliver guaranteed ingest rates and levels of system consolidation to scale megapixel camera environments. Together, Genetec and DDN can now provide customers with an extremely scalable, high availability, highly secure IP video surveillance infrastructure that has no single point of failure, the companies stated in a joint release.
By leveraging Omnicast software with DDN storage, organizations can now:
- take advantage of Omnicast’s expansion capabilities — up to tens of thousands of cameras under a single pane of glass — with DDN’s leadership levels of density and scalability.
- reduce their data center footprint by more than 75 percent over traditional storage.
- ensure no frame is ever lost, regardless of hardware and/or drive rebuild events with advanced failover and redundancy.
“Genetec’s Omnicast provides security technology for city-wide surveillance initiatives, transportation safety and other highly scalable installations worldwide. Today, more than ever, our customers are searching for innovative alternatives to manage increasing camera resolutions, longer retention periods, and a need for more cameras in more places,” said Michel Chalouhi, director of Product Management at Genetec. “We felt it was important to partner with DDN, an infrastructure vendor whose products are purpose-built and proven to meet the needs of high-bandwidth, content-rich environments, in order to help our valued customers efficiently meet these emerging, mission-critical demands.”
