Honeywell, Melville, N.Y., will provide Land Tejas Cos. with its Vista Internet connection module (ICM), 6270 TouchCenter keypad and structured wiring solutions for six housing developments totaling approximately 12,300 new homes in Houston.
Vista ICM allows homeowners to integrate and control security with heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) from any Web-enabled PC or mobile device such as a laptop, PDA or cell phone. Its lifestyle- and safety-enhancing technology also can help conserve energy.
“The Vista ICM’s ability to conserve energy and allow control of HVAC and security systems over the Internet made it an ideal complement to our progressive standards of built-in technology,” said Al Brende, Land Tejas co-founder.
Homeowners can also control their security system functions through a simple interface design on the 6270 TouchCenter keypads. With the keypad, homeowners can access an event log that tells them when the security system has been turned on or off.
The log can allow parents to see when their children returned home and whether they armed the system afterward. The keypad also includes a built-in message center where users can record and playback messages.
All security system and ICM wires will run from Honeywell’s structured wiring panel. The structured wiring solution also will include a router for a wireless Internet network throughout the home. For more information on these products, visitwww.security.honeywell.com/hsce.
