Anixter’s Amazing Race
Anixter will be conducting “The Amazing Anixter Race” at ISC West using ISC West Mobile. Participants use their mobile devices to scan as many mobile tags as they can find throughout the show to earn points and win prizes.

The tagging master who earns the highest number of points by 3 p.m. on Thursday will win a $1,000 Apple iPad package, which includes the iPad with 3G capability, case, keyboard and iTunes gift card.
The next four registrants with the highest number of points of 200 or more win an iPad.

NFL Great to Help Dealers Train like Champions
Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan is making an appearances at noon PDT on Wednesday at security alarm provider Monitronics’ booth, No. 10068. Strahan is also attending an exclusive VIP reception Wednesday evening for Monitronics top prospects and dealers.
This year, the company is spotlighting its Monitronics Authorized Dealer Program. “We’ve got the resources and the training to assist our dealers to be successful and we want to share our plans with ISC attendees,” said Bruce Mungiguerra, vice president of sales and dealer development.
The Monitronics Authorized Dealer Program has five elements that are designed to empower dealers to stake their territory and make the most of their business: stability, flexibility, branding, training, and alliance. During ISC West, Monitronics is focusing on one element in particular: Training. Monitronics helps its dealers “prepare to win,” while giving them the experience and assistance they need to be successful, the company said.
Who Wants an iPad?
Intransa, Pelco and VideoIQ and are giving away Apple iPads to some lucky booth visitors.
Those stopping by the Intransa booth, No. 8100, can enter a daily draw for an iTouch or the grand prize of the new iPad.
Pelco is giving away an iPad each day of the show at 2:30 p.m. in booth No. 16042. To enter, simply complete an entry form and short quiz online or at the booth and submit your entry at the show. Contestants must be present at the drawing to win.
VideoIQ will has two ways to win iPads. The first drawing is for VideoIQ Twitter and facebook followers. Meet DVTel’s New President & CEO
Swing by booth No. 8086 to meet DVTel Inc.’s recently appointed president and chief executive officer, Yoav Stern. Stern is replacing Eli Gorovici, who steps down after almost 10 years in the position. Gorovici remains involved in DVTel as an advisor to the CEO, and will help supervise certain strategic projects. Stern will also serve as a director on DVTel’s board.
Stern has substantial experience in the homeland security industry. He was CEO of an international publicly traded company in the Homeland Security business, and lately served as an advisor to the boards, shareholders and management teams of a number of large International corporations and private equity firms from the USA, Japan and Asia, where he has specialized in mergers & acquisitions and strategy development and implementation.
Over the past two decades, Stern focused on investing in and running middle market public and private technology companies, through their growth and expansion stages. He is a principal shareholder of Kellstrom Aerospace, LLC from Florida, and since 1995 has served as co-chairman of Bogen Communications International Inc. in New Jersey. Stern served for 25 years of active and reserve duty in the Air Force, where he was heavily involved with advanced avionics and aerospace technologies.
Day & Night at the Bosch Truck
Bosch’s 53-foot double-expandable truck in booth No. 18011 is serving double-duty at ISC West 2011. During show hours, the company offers interactive product demonstrations for HD Video, Intrusion, Access Control, Fire Detection, Critical Communications and Audio.
After the show wraps up on Wednesday, Bosch will host a happy hour from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Have a drink on Bosch and see what happens at the truck “after hours”!

CEDIA Exhibits at ISC West
The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) is exhibiting at ISC West this year in booth No. 20144. Visitors to the CEDIA booth can learn about new business opportunities in the residential electronic systems industry and the current cross-over with the security industry. CEDIA representatives will be available to offer information on membership benefits, education offerings, CEDIA events, and how to become a member.
Attendees can enter to win a free one-year CEDIA membership. A $30 membership discount will be available for companies who wish to apply for CEDIA membership at the show.
Products that Play Well Together: Interoperability Demonstrations
ONVIF and the Physical Security Interoperability Alliance (PSIA), two organizations that work toward developing open standards that facilitate interoperability of physical security products, will each present interoperability demonstrations during the show.
PSIA is expanding to include access control and intrusion specifications and will host a reception at ISC West to demonstrate the final pieces of its security suite of specifications. Arecont Vision, Hikvision, Honeywell, IQinVision, ObjectVideo, Tyco, and UTC Fire & Security will demonstrate products relying on five PSIA specifications to support systems interoperability.
The PSIA reception is taking place at ISC West on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in meeting room 302 of the Sands Expo Center.
ONVIF is hosting an interoperability demonstration and reception at ISC West 2011 that will display ONVIF conforming products from more than 20 member companies. Representatives from members companies such as Bosch, Brickcom, CNB Technology, Dallmeier, Exacq, Genetec, GVI, Hikvision, Koukaam A.S., LG Electronics, Pelco, Shenzen Wision Technology, Siemens, Sony, Win4Net and others will be on hand to talk about their active involvement in implementing the ONVIF standard within their organizations, as well as to display their ONVIF conformant products.
The ONVIF reception is takes at ISC West on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Galileo meeting rooms 1002 and 1003 in level 1 of the Palazzo Congress Center.
DVR Configuration… There’s an App for That
Visit Speco Technologies’ booth, No. 18041, to see what the company is doing with the new Speco Technologies Configurator, an app that allows integrators to set up some of the company’s DVRs. DVR Units can be configured before, during or after setup, whether the unit is accessible via WiFi or the Internet (using iPad’s 3G). Settings that can be modified include: system, monitor, camera, record, and event. DVR settings can also be saved and recalled from the Configurator so that each new DVR configured can have the same settings as previous DVRs configured or completely new settings, depending on what is requested by the client. Salespeople can also use the Configurator as a sales tool to demonstrate the capabilities of Speco Technologies DVR.
Make Strides for Children in Need
On Thursday morning, a large portion of the security industry will be getting ready for the last day of ISC West by running or walking a brisk five-mile run or walk through Las Vegas in the Security 5K, a charity event exclusively for the security industry benefitting Mission 500, an organization that sponsors children in need through World Vision humanitarian organization.
This year the goal is to raise $100,000 to feed, educate, clothe and tend to the health needs of more than 300 children around the world, making strides to reach the Security 5K’s goal to sponsor 500 or more children.
New this year are special prizes for “Top Fundraiser” and “Top Fundraising Team,” which features a trip for one person to a World Vision project in Africa or Latin America.
The Security 5K will take place Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Registration is open through Wednesday at the Mission 500 table top outside main entrance of Expo hall. An awards cocktail reception will follow Thursday afternoon from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in room 301/302 in the lower level of the Sands Convention Center.
