Anixter Race

Race participants gain points by scanning tags at exhibitor booths...and they meet potential new partners

There’s still time to play the Amazing Anixter Race, but you’ll have to step on it. As of Wednesday mid-afternoon, over 100 ISC West attendees had accumulated points by visiting participating exhibitor booths and scanning tags with their smartphones. Attendees without smartphones received bingo cards with points. Leading the race was John Arthur Lowe, JALoewPlays, who is a technical consultant and working playwright from Valley Village, Calif. After receiving an email about the Race, Lowe downloaded the Microsoft Tag Reader to his smartphone. “It was very easy to do, even with my older smartphone,” he says. “I’m hoping to upgrade by placing first in the Race, and winning the $1,000 Apple iPad package.” Lowe scans tags as he visits participating exhibitors and takes advantage of special bonus points posted on Twitter. “This is a great way to connect with vendors and suppliers,” he adds.

The next four Race participants with the highest number of points of 200 or more will win an iPad. In addition, every participant with at least 200 points at the end of the race at 3:00 p.m. today will qualify for entry into a raffle drawing for six iPads and twenty $100 Best Buy gift cards.
