Electric Vehicle Charger

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, offers residential and commercial electric vehicle charging solutions. Available immediately, the EVlink™ residential electric vehicle (EV) charger is a simple, easy-to-install, and user-friendly solution for recharging vehicles at home.

By 2015, Pike Research* forecasts that more than one million plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and EVs will be sold annually around the world, and during that year, more than three million EVs will be plugging in to recharge their batteries. Schneider Electric is addressing the growing demand for EV infrastructure by introducing a complete solution from one provider. Schneider Electric’s total EV solution includes a comprehensive line of residential, commercial, and fast-charging EV chargers, as well as installation and maintenance services from electrical contractors certified through a new Schneider Electric training program. To complete the in-home EV solution, homeowners and electric utility providers can manage the additional electrical load their EV’s will add by incorporating Schneider Electric’s recently launched Wiser™ Energy Management System, which promotes active energy management and efficiency.

Key features of the Schneider Electric EVlink indoor residential EV charger include:

  • Standards Compliance: UL listed and SAE J1772 compliance ensures compatibility with any electric vehicle entering the market today.
  • Ground fault monitoring and protection: Capability to detect faults and provide protection from power outages and lost connectivity. An integral ground fault interrupter set at 5mA provides protection to users if a fault is detected. Automatic recovery and re-start functionality ensures charging will resume following a power loss or ground fault detection.
  • Delayed charging: Features a delayed charging option, enabling users to delay charging for up to eight hours, in one hour increments. This feature allows users to take advantage of off-peak utility rates by delaying the charging of the vehicle until electricity can be used at a lower rate.
  • LED displays: User-friendly display lights up to show the charging progress of the vehicle. Status indicator lights identify if the vehicle is charging and for how long, if charging will be scheduled for a later time, or if the charger requires attention.
  • Physical specifications :Features non-metallic enclosure, indoor wall-mount and cable holder for optimum cable management.

“As the price of energy continues to rise and consumers look for clean energy alternatives, Schneider Electric is prepared to offer a complete solution for all their EV charging needs,” said Rich Korthauer, director of Schneider Electric's North America residential power business. “We see energy management as a key component for successful mass adoption of EVs. With our comprehensive solution, users in residential and commercial settings will be able to better manage their energy use and integrate with the Smart Grid.”

Schneider Electric’s new training and certification program for electrical contractors helps them to grow their business and increase sales opportunities through renewable and energy efficient products, such as EV charging stations. The exclusive program will assist contractors in advising, selling and installing a broad range of EV solutions across commercial, industrial and residential applications.

The Schneider Electric EVlink level II basic indoor residential EV charger is available today through Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric will unveil additional residential and commercial level II and III EV charging solutions this year.
