After Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath forced the cancellation of all Security Week events, organizers announced this week that the ISC East conference and trade show was rescheduled to take place on Nov. 28 and 29, 2012.

The show floor at the Jacob Javits Center will be open from 10a.m. to 5p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28 and from 9a.m. to 2p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29. Far from being diminished by Sandy’s impact on the East coast, ISC East will offer opportunities for the security industry to learn from the storm and get to work on securing the communities it devastated. The conference will offer opportunities to network with others on their approach to recovering from the storm and what they learned. The event also represents an opportunity to give back to communities hit by Sandy as ISC and SIA will make a contribution to a hurricane relief fund on the industry’s behalf. Attendees will be able to explore the products, services and technologies to re-secure hurricane-stricken areas. For information, visit www.isceast.com.

New dates have not been established for the Securing New Ground conference. The Security Industry Association, which owns the conference, stated that the conference will be postponed until the first quarter of 2013. SIA’s decision to hold the event until next year was based on a high volume of industry events coming up through the remainder of this year that would surely “present significant logistical challenges for the overwhelming majority of attendees.”  Don Erickson, chief executive officer of SIA, noted, “While we certainly hope that you will be able to attend the rescheduled event, we will provide instructions for obtaining a refund should your schedule not allow for attendance once the 2013 date is established.” For information, visit www.securingnewground.com.

The 2012 SIA Security Week Gala will also be postponed until 2013.
