SDM is pleased to announce that it will be the exclusive media partner for the 2013 Southeast Electronic Security Conference — an all-new event put on by the Alarm Association of Florida (AAF), which supplants its previous trade show that was co-located with another. According to AAF, “The board of directors of the Alarm Association of Florida had decided to return to hosting their own trade show.”
It will take place at the Doubletree Hotel at Universal, Orlando Fla., from April 23 to 26, 2013.
At this time, the AAF has more than 50 vendors, many of which it describes as “not the typical security expo participants. Some of these exhibitors include General Motors, Costco, several banks and credit card processing companies, and Dell Computers — as well as many of the industry giants and some smaller but formidable companies.”
AAF President John Toscano said, “We believe that the AAF can and should do more for our members, and therefore we have positioned this show to be a true business event. We’re all used to the typical trade show with multiple vendors selling the same product. This show is different. It is quite diverse, and this show is all about business.”
The AAF said it has always been a leader in the area of government relations and was a pilot program for the original Model States Program. The AAF said it is also very active presently with the Florida Alarm Management Committee, which is a subcommittee of the Public Private Partnership Committee of the Florida Police Chiefs Association. The Alarm Association of Florida promoted state legislation requiring enhanced call verification, and was one of the first states to pass it into law in 2006, according to AAF.
Because of its strong ties to police, sheriff, and fire officials and their departments, it was a perfect fit to co-locate this event with The False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA), AAF stated. FARA will be hosting events from April 22 to 26. All alarm companies are invited to participate in seminars, panel discussions, and roundtables, at no charge during the “Alarm Company Day” to be held on Tuesday, April 23.
The evening hospitality suite is where members can get together and socialize, network with peers and vendors, play some cards, and enjoy a refreshing and relaxing evening, AAF described. This year the hospitality suite will be open Tuesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 24. The opening speaker for the event is Ron Davis. Keynote speaker will be Chief Julius Halas, director of the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office. The annual banquet will be held on Thursday evening, April 25, and includes a keynote address by the director of the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office Chief Julius Halas.
“This is a great day for the AAF,” said Executive Director Bob Neely. “We have returned to a format that we were very successful at, and one that provided education, networking opportunities and some down time fun events for both our regular members and our associates.”
The 2013 Southeast Electronic Security Conference will be held from April 23 through 26 at the Doubletree Hotel at Universal in Orlando Florida. The AAF has established a group rate with the hotel for attendees at the show that includes a waived resort fee and free parking. Attending the show is free(if you pre-register), as are many of the other amenities. The discounted hotel rate is also good for three days prior to and after the show, making this a wonderful opportunity for family fun, as well as education and networking, an AAF spokesperson said.
