Tyco Integrated Security, a Tyco company based in Boca Raton, Fla., announced at ISC West last week that it is adding a Mobile Security Management system to its portfolio. The new offering includes a remote management application that enables customers to manage security systems from remote locations using any Web-enabled device.

“Today’s always-on, always-connected workforce is one of the reasons why Tyco Integrated Security developed its Mobile Security Management system,” said Jay Hauhn, vice president, product management and industry relations, Tyco Integrated Security. “We pride ourselves on understanding our customers’ needs, and have now given them the ability to remotely manage their security systems. Our Mobile Security Management system allows customers to improve productivity and enhance security protection conveniently and affordably, providing the type of technology they have come to expect of us.”

With Mobile Security Management, customers can use the virtual keypad to control systems while off-site, as if they were in front of their keypads. Users can arm and disarm the system to give access to delivery or service personnel, for example. They also can bypass zones, change pass codes, receive quick notification through e-mail or text message that something happened at their business, and look in on their business via camera, Hauhn described.

“It’s available with our Focus controls, which makes up 60 to 70 percent of our installed base,” he said, adding that the service is geared towards the company’s core commercial accounts at this time.

“The younger generation up to middle-age folks, who now don’t go anywhere without having that iPhone or Blackberry or iPad at their disposal, are getting to a point where everything they want to do electronically needs to be done through that device and not done through sitting in front of a PC. It is turning us into a highly mobile society from a connection standpoint,” Hauhn told SDM.

Tyco Integrated Security’s Mobile Security Management system allows customers to access real-time video of customer and employee activity no matter where they are. Mobile Security Management also offers customers the ability to:

  • verify that customer service standards are being met via live look-in, without having to drive to the physical business location;
  • receive alerts with attached video clips based on user-defined business criteria, such as an employee accessing a high-value asset area or opening or closing the facility; and
  • respond to and address an occurrence that requires attention, from anywhere, conveniently and easily with a smartphone device.

“I make all our partners and our product management team know that they need to be thinking, with all of the offerings we do, that we have to keep mobility in mind and how is the customer going to connect with that product from a mobile perspective. It’s so important now,” Hauhn emphasized.
