Give ‘Em a Reason
The first question a security dealer’s website should answer is “Why us?” The average security dealer website visitor has a lot of questions — about price, about technology, about ROI, and countless others. You can’t hope to answer all of their questions in the few seconds it takes to catch their interest with your homepage. But you can give them a reason to stay a while and read what you’ve got to say. On its homepage, below a colorful promo, Guardian Protection, Warrendale, Pa., highlights three reasons “why”: an A rating with the BBB, a super service award from Angie’s List and its best price guarantee policy. The homepage is dedicated to establishing credibility and trust.
App Promotes Smarter Sales
Monitronics’, Dallas, new LOCATE application tells Authorized Dealers more about prospective customers in their area. The app enables managers to acquire homeowner data, divide area and assign to specific sales representatives while monitoring their progress. The software gathers vital information about customers in a given area, including their names, their household incomes and whether they own or rent.
Web and iOS versions of LOCATE sync together so managers can assign geographical areas to their salespeople (including accurate, up-to-date addresses and directions) with a simple click-and-drag motion. The app is available for free download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

Surveillance Site Planning Tool
Vumii™ Imaging Inc., Atlanta, announced its Vumii SiteBuilder tool, which is designed to help security integrators and consultants efficiently design site security plans. The web application is based on the Google Maps API and enables users to place virtual cameras within a graphical representation of the land a facility encompasses.
