American Alarm and Communications Inc., Arlington, Mass., completed the acquisition of Sentinel Security Systems of Worcester, a provider of security services to homes and businesses in Central Massachusetts since 1995.
The Sentinel operations will be merged with American Alarm’s Central Massachusetts facility in Auburn. Sentinel customers’ security systems will be monitored by American Alarm’s 24-hour Security Command Center.
“We welcome the Sentinel customers and look forward to serving their security needs for many years to come,” said Louis Sampson, chief financial officer at American Alarm.
Fran Cahill, the founder and owner of Sentinel Security, will remain with American Alarm to continue serving his customers and the merged operations. “The security industry is advancing rapidly with new technologies and services. So as I looked to the future, it became clear to me that this was the right time to begin a transition that would ensure my customers had access to the services they need. I knew that American Alarm was the right partner for the future.”
Sentinel Security serves approximately 400 residential and commercial customers in Central Mass. There will be no disruption of security or monitoring services because of the acquisition, the company stated.
“Fran has more than 40 years of experience in the security industry, so he brings a wealth of knowledge and insight that will be very helpful, not only for Sentinel customers, but for our whole team at American Alarm,” Sampson said.
American Alarm has grown significantly over the past 10 years through steady business development and by making strategic acquisitions. The American Alarm family of companies now includes Electronic Alarms, one of the leading security systems providers in Rhode Island, and Advanced Signal Corp. of Randolph, Mass., which specializes in the design, installation and servicing of enterprise life-safety systems such as Notifier by Honeywell.
