Control4, a provider of residential and commercial automation systems, announced that its wholly-owned U.K. subsidiary acquired UK-based Extra Vegetables Ltd., a privately held company. Extra Vegetables, best known for developing integration modules and drivers for Control4® smart home systems, will be fully integrated into Control4 with the charter of strengthening the company’s interoperability development efforts for the connected home. All Extra Vegetables employees will become part of the Control4 team.
“We are extremely pleased to formally add the expertise and talent of the Extra Vegetables team to Control4,” said Eric Anderson, senior vice president of Products for Control4. “It’s an exciting union that accelerates development and time-to-market for the drivers that Control4 Dealers need and want, offers more comprehensive technical support, delivers better functionality, and provides more integration opportunities. Together, we will continue to deliver incredible value to our dealers and customers.”
“This isn’t just business as usual,” said Jane Scotland, co-founder and COO of Extra Vegetables, who will head the new in-house Control4 Driver Development Team. “It’s business better than usual. We have a unique opportunity to strengthen the Control4 interoperability strategy by providing seamless integration with the products customers and dealers care about — faster and better than ever.”
From the most popular multi-room audio products to favorite satellite services, Control4 will now distribute and provide technical support for more than one hundred Extra Vegetables’ drivers and modules for Control4 automation systems, eliminating the complexity for Dealers managing multiple vendors, licensing, and permission models. Dealers will continue to be able to integrate the same third-party products for A/V gear, climate control, IP cameras, blinds, lighting, security, irrigation systems, and more, while support for these drivers, and future drivers, will now be expanded and serviced by the award-winning Control4 tech support team.
