ScanSource Inc., a provider of technology products and solutions, is expanding its headquarters location in Greenville County. The public company is creating more than 100 highly skilled career positions and investing more than $6 million in the expansion of its Greenville County headquarters location over the next five years.
“ScanSource has been a tremendous partner to our state since its doors opened in Greenville over two decades ago, and the news that this homegrown company is expanding here again is a real reason to celebrate,” said S.C. Governor Nikki Haley. “ScanSource’s decision to create an additional 100 jobs at its corporate headquarters is a huge win for South Carolina, and we look forward to watching this company continue to grow and thrive here for a very long time.”
With 43 offices located across North America, South America and Europe, ScanSource is a global provider of technology products and solutions including point-of-sale, barcode, physical security, 3D printing, voice, video and data networking solutions. As a distributor, ScanSource enables hundreds of manufacturers to scale the distribution of their products to thousands of technology resellers. These technology categories include barcode scanners commonly found in retail and industrial settings, telephone and videoconferencing systems used in the workplace, and video surveillance that protects businesses and schools. The company employs more than 2,100 worldwide.
“Our corporate headquarters in Greenville plays an important strategic role in our global business, as it enables us to centralize some processes and share best practices, while also supporting the local needs of each geography” said Mike Baur, ScanSource Inc. CEO and co-founder. “This expansion will give us the capacity we need to accommodate the growth of the global business, while also providing a positive impact on the state of South Carolina.”
Approximately 650 employees work at the corporate headquarters campus at Logue Court off Pelham Road in Greenville. The newly announced expansion will convert approximately 30,000 square feet of warehouse space into office space for a growing sales force and support staff.
“We have been very successful over the years in recruiting from South Carolina colleges and universities, and are excited at the talent we know we will be bringing to ScanSource with the new jobs we are creating,” said John Harvey, ScanSource Inc. vice president of worldwide human resources.
ScanSource has expanded its current headquarter campus location five times over the past 10 years, ultimately occupying more than 175,000 square feet in two buildings on more than 24 acres on Pelham Road. Likewise, each time ScanSource expands beyond South Carolina and the U.S., it has a positive impact on new jobs in the Upstate, as many support functions for the global corporation are provided in Greenville.
Locally in Greenville and statewide, ScanSource has an estimated economic impact of more than $20 million annually. This includes major contributions to education and other philanthropic causes, sales transactions with local businesses, and the financial impact of bringing visitors to the area for conferences and meetings.
The Greenville expansion project is expected to be complete over the next five years.
