Milestone Systems announced the general availability of the Milestone Husky M500 Advanced NVR hardware platform with scalable VMS. The M500 Advanced NVR has been performance-tested to support 512 HD cameras (720P HD cameras, H.264, 30fps, 1Mb/s video stream with video motion detection operated on the edge device) with a guaranteed recording performance of 600Mb/s. The NVR has a versatile design to be a recording server, failover server, management server or can also be used as an all-in-one video solution. A key contribution of the high performance of Husky M500 Advanced is the storage system’s use of Western Digital Purple hard drives. These drives are specially designed for video surveillance and utilize write-optimized hard disk drive technology and frame loss protection.
