As a part of its ongoing effort to reduce the occurrence and impact of false dispatches, The Monitoring Association (TMA) has released the latest revision of its ANSI-accredited standard, TMA CS-V-01-2020 (Version August 01, 2020). This standard takes alarm verification and confirmation to the next level by defining multiple-attempt confirmation, biometric, audio and video confirmation. The standard is available for free download from TMA’s website at www.tma.us.

“I am passionate about standards,” said TMA President Don Young. “Having had the experience of both contributing to the development of industry-wide standards and implementing them within security-focused organizations, I am intimately familiar with the distinct value and benefits standards offer. This standard, as ANSI’s development guidelines stipulate, represents the collective contributions of stakeholders who have a role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the alarm response process — including monitoring center staff, emergency response professionals and law enforcement.”

Actions related to commercial and residential fire alarm systems are found in NFPA 72.
