For the past 13 years, U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Chad Watson (Ret.) has proven the resiliency and toughness of U.S. service members by creating a new life for himself after he lost half of his right leg in a 2006 IED explosion in Iraq. In recognition of Watson’s sacrifice and determination throughout his difficult recovery, the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence, Supporting Empowerment) program selected him to receive a brand new smart home in Illinois, complete with security, automation and entertainment technologies from Nortek Security & Control LLC.
Hikvision’s Miami office co-sponsored an event in partnership with nonprofit Mission 500 and other security industry leaders to support local students who attend the Title 1 Crosspointe Elementary School in Boynton Beach, Fla. Participants built and donated 700 backpacks filled with school supplies and other essential items.
Mission 500 announced that its fifth annual security industry softball game fundraiser will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2019. This year’s event will be held from 12-3 PM at Overpeck County Park. A Home Run Derby will officially kick off the event, which will be held at 199 Challenger Road in Ridgefield Park, N.J.
Five years ago, Kwikset, a brand of Spectrum Brands Inc.’s hardware and home improvement division, became involved with Building Homes for Heroes (BHH), a nonprofit organization that builds homes from the ground up or modifies existing homes to meet the needs of war veterans with severe wounds and disabilities.
