The Security Industry Association’s (SIA) Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard has been approved by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) technical committee on alarm and electronic security systems as an international standard.
The Security Industry Association (SIA) has introduced SIA OSDP Verified, a new comprehensive testing program that validates a device’s conformance to the SIA Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard and related performance protocols.
When your customers require OSDP for their next installation, you’ll be ready. DMP announced that all 734 Series access control modules now support both Wiegand and OSDP readers. OSDP stands for Open Supervised Device Protocol; it was developed by the Security Industry Association in 2011 and is now widely considered the gold standard for access control installations. For increased security, OSDP supports high-end 128-bit AES encryption to more effectively prevent the interception of data between modules and readers.
Once a fairly ‘vanilla’ choice, access control reader and credential options today include an array of more secure mobile, digital and security options to fit every user’s need and budget.
There was a time not too long ago when choosing the card and reader for an access control installation consisted of which proximity reader style from a limited number of suppliers you liked and how many 125 kHz cards or fobs you needed to purchase.
Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) is an access control communications standard developed by SIA to improve interoperability among access control and security products. With the protocol now in wide use by many top product developers, including Cypress Technologies, HID Global, LenelS2, Mercury, WaveLynx and others, knowledge of how to design, specify and configure OSDP systems is becoming vital for security systems integrators, government security teams, corporate security practitioners and specifying consultants.
AMAG welcomed Third Millennium to the Symmetry Preferred Partner Program. Third Millennium’s OSDP reader with OC1 converter can now be used with the Symmetry Access Control system.
Cypress Integration Solutions and Farpointe Data have joined forces to supply security integrators with products that will bring improved security and flexibility, thanks to the Security Industry Association’s OSDP access control standard.
Systems integrator Preferred Technologies Inc., Houston, has integrated the intelligent networking capabilities of LifeSafety Power’s FlexPower iSCAN (Supervision Control Access Notification) SmartPower system to Genetec’s unified security platform called Security Center. Preferred Technologies, known as Pref-Tech, has implemented the integration successfully at numerous customer sites.
Physical security systems run on state-of-the-art hardware and software infrastructure. Increasingly the industry is turning to cloud application solutions, and identity databases are being hosted on virtualized servers.
