If you want to see how far technology has come with emergency communication and notification capabilities, look no further than Virginia Tech, a university campus that experienced two shooting events.

A recent action was filed in the United States District Court of Nevada where the plaintiff, owner of a building, entered into a contract with the defendant alarm company’s predecessor for security services at the building, including monitoring alarms and dispatching responses to alarms. The contract was apparently subsequently assigned to the defendant alarm company.

The New Jersey Electronic Security Association (NJESA) announced that it has changed its name to the New Jersey Electronic Life Safety Association (NJELSA) effective immediately.

IPVideo Corporation, a manufacturer of audio/video recording, passive weapons detection systems and IOT sensor technology, announced that the company will be exhibiting at the ISC East show and showcasing not only its metal and vaping detection solutions in booth #635, but debuting its new remote self-service security screening solution, AeroScan with Aeroturn LLC. 

The Monitoring Association’s (TMA) highest honor, the Stanley C. Lott Memorial Award for Exemplary Service, was presented to former TMA president and past executive director Jay Hauhn at the 2019 Annual Meeting in Napa, Calif. on October 16. The award honors Hauhn’s dedication and service to TMA and the monitoring industry over the course of his career, which spans more than 40 years.

In a recent New Jersey case, an insurance company appealed a trial court’s order of summary judgment that dismissed its subrogation claim against the defendant, the installer of the fire sprinkler at the premises.

ISC Security Events and the Security Industry Association (SIA) announced that security and public safety leaders Deanne Criswell and Angela Stubblefield will headline the 2019 SIA Education@ISC East Keynote Series. These keynote sessions are open to all attendees at ISC East, taking place Nov. 20-21 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.
