The Open Security Exchange announced the appointment of Ron Martin, CPP as executive director. In this role, Martin will lead the not-for-profit association of security experts that provides a forum for security firms, consultants, end users, government agencies, manufacturers, system integrators and allied organizations to mutually define opportunities for physical/logical convergence and interoperability.

SIGNET Electronic Systems Inc., Norwell, Mass., a privately held system integrator operating in New England, acquired American Business Telephone Company Inc. (ABT), a Chestnut Hill, Mass.-based telecommunications technologies firm. With an expanded focus on telecommunications technology, the asset purchase makes SIGNET one of the largest telecommunications system integrators in the region.

Micro Key Solutions, Kissimmee, Fla., a provider of software solutions for the security alarm industry, created a new program to help users get the most out of Micro Key’s automated solutions. Micro Key announced a series of new skills-based courses delivered online through newly formed Micro Key University (MKU).

ONVIF, a standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced that it released a new set of tools designed to aid member companies in designing and releasing new, innovative ONVIF conformant products to the physical security market.
