Roller skates, beds, autonomous flying cars, smart clothing, robots, aromatherapy, flexible video screens, wireless everything, drones, artificial intelligence (AI), toys, analytics, smart cities, and anything tech were alive and well at CES 2018 with over 2.75 million square feet of exhibits and 1,000-plus presenters. Other surprises included a flood on opening day of the show— after 190 days of no rain in Las Vegas — and a two-hour power outage at the convention center on day two.
ADT, SDM’s 2017 Dealer of the Year, unveiled several new offerings at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Jan 9-12 in Las Vegas. ADT now offers protection not only at home, but on the go and within their digital network as well.
Results of the 2018 SDM Security Industry Forecast Study show that total industry revenue rose 8.5 percent last year, boosted by a thriving economy and high consumer and business confidence.
Last year was good, but 2018 could be great, say security integrators and security dealers who participated in the 2018 SDM Industry Forecast Study and Panel, a report that SDM has published annually since 1982. The economy is roaring.
It’s extremely important that security dealers and the industry as a whole understand how to reach different generations of buyers, but especially up-and-coming buyers.
When asked which technologies Americans believe are most susceptible to hacking, respondents named Web apps and IoT devices among the most susceptible.
