Samsung’s 5-Star Solutions program provides custom installers with a variety of services, including a CI-dedicated Web portal with more functionality and content, partnerships with leading home automation companies, and expanded sales and distribution support. New this year, installers now have the option to become a Samsung Authorized Service Provider to service clients directly without involving a third-party servicer. Samsung has also has created a new role that’s dedicated exclusively to focusing on the needs of the CI channel.
Milestone Systems released Device Pack 9.9 for partners and customers using Milestone XProtect video solutions. The bi-monthly device packs contain software updates for XProtect VMS to support new hardware. This release introduces 209 new devices, bringing the total of supported devices to more than 7,500.
Delta Scientific announced that, in a review of its top selling products to the government, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has provided certification according to the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technology Act (SAFETY Act) of 2002. This certification minimizes insurance risks for organizations that deploy authorized Delta vehicle access control products to protect against terrorists and errant drivers. All products certified are covered retroactively back to 1984 and are now authorized to carry the SAFETY Act Designated mark.

G4S introduced its G4S Security Risk Management Model, a risk-based, data-driven approach to oversee enterprise security management. To build this tool, G4S went outside the security industry and worked with an academic partner, the Georgia State University Center for Process Innovation, to help them look at the issue from a completely new perspective. Using an effects-based design planning method, G4S developed a comprehensive, consistent, and easy-to-use model that takes security risk management to a whole new level, the company reported.
