With so many different systems being installed in a home, and the variety of players involved, one of the big challenges is “getting everyone on board, on the same page, and at the same time.”
Once again, this year’s CES show beat all past events with 2.6 million sq. ft. of exhibits, 3,880 exhibitors with over 600 startups, and 6,500-plus media folks — more than the 2016 Olympics.
The smart home has arrived. Recently smart devices and systems that are affordable, reliable, expandable, and most importantly, desired by consumers, have emerged.
Having participated in 25 CEDIA Expos in a variety of roles — attendee, installation business owner, instructor, exhibitor and press, I have many stories to tell. What began as small get-togethers in the early years with fewer than 1,000 attendees eventually grew to the extravagant events, awards banquet and late-night parties we now see. With amazing new technologies, CEDIA Expos never disappoint.
Over the past 130 or so years there have been tremendous technological advancements. Just look at them all — from the telephone, light bulb, radio and television to the cell phone, flat screen display and streaming media — and they keep on coming.
In today’s world, listening to music and awesome audio is a mainstay in nearly everyone’s lives. Consider the huge variety of headphones offered today and the affordable soundbars delivering the home theater experience with unbelievable sound.
Just like the cowardly lion in The Wizard of Oz, when it comes to lighting control so many things out there can be intimidating. But don’t falter, it’s time to be brave and embrace the connected world of control.
