At ASIS Booth 2113, HID has added to its multiCLASS reader line.

HID Global has launched new additions to its versatile multiCLASS™ reader line. By increasing HID’s market-leading, multi-technology GSA-approved multiCLASS product line to include a keypad reader (for dual-factor authentication) and a mullion-mount reader (for MiniProx® retrofit replacement), HID Global has once again clearly asserted its commitment to support 13.56 MHz technologies. The company’s offerings encompass the industry’s broadest range of open standard contactless smart card products, available from over 40,000 resellers worldwide.

New additions to the expanded multiCLASS line include:
RP15: A new reader designed to simplify MiniProx retrofit replacement, providing a simple installation solution for customers upgrading from the widely used MiniProx readers to high performance contactless smart cards capabilities; and
RPK40: A multi-technology keypad reader that combines contactless card presentation with a personal identification number (PIN) to support dual-factor identity authentication.

The enhancements combine 125 kHz proximity and 13.56 MHz contactless smart card and reader technologies into a single reader, providing additional support for users upgrading from the most popular proximity cards to the most popular contactless smart cards. The multiCLASS line, which also includes the RP40 reader, provides a clear multi-technology migration path for the large installed bases of HID, Indala and AWID customers.

"With further product line enhancements, the multiCLASS™ reader line is the ultimate migration tool. With our unique card technology read selection feature, customers have endless card management flexibility, with security and simplicity," said Damon Dageenakis, HID’s product manager, reader products.

The readers are scheduled for shipment in early Q4 2007. For more information about multiCLASS solutions, please visit www.hidcorp.com
