Datacard Group, seen as ASIS booth 925, announced that its newly launched Datacard® SP75 Plus and CP80 Plus card printers appear on the GSA Approved Product List (APL) for Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 card printer specification. This is a result of achieving compliance with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Evaluation Program for certification of the FIPS 201 Specification.
The SP75 Plus and CP80 Plus card printers personalize highly secure, durable cards and address the complex security issues associated with distributed issuance. Key security features include ultraviolet fluorescent printing, theft deterrent software and hardware, and the ability to apply the same or different security laminates to both sides of the card. The printers also can be configured with one or two lamination stations.
“Achieving compliance for these new products demonstrates Datacard Group’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that our solutions for secure ID cards—especially smart cards—meet these standards," said Fred Ketcho, regional vice president of Americas sales and service for Datacard Group. The FIPS 201 standard was mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD- 12) in an effort to issue reliable and secure forms of identification to all U.S. Federal Government employees and contractors. www.datacard.com
