Stanley Convergent Security Solutions Inc. (Stanley CSS), Naperville, Ill., shared the sad news with SDM that industry veteran, Steve Welsh, vice president of corporate services and procurement for Stanley CSS North America since 2004, died on May 9, 2010 after battling cancer.

Stanley CSS shared that Welsh had more than 25 years of financial, operational and management experience within the security industry internationally. He began his security career with API Alarm Systems in 1985 as accounting manager and then held numerous positions throughout the industry. Welsh spent time as director of budgeting and operational reporting at SecurityLink; vice president of budgets and systems at Signature Security Group in Sydney, Australia; Six Sigma Project Champion with TYCO/ADT, and vice president of installation/service process and corporate services at HSM Electronic Protection Services Inc.  Through the implementation of his recommendations at each company, Welsh improved margins and captured significant savings.

“Steve has been a great contributor to the company over the past six years,” stated Tony Byerly, president and chief operating officer North America & United Kingdom Direct.  “We will surely miss his leadership in our metrics and rankings, our product services, our vendor relations, our acquisition integration efforts, our facilities and fleet management, and much, much more.

“Steve’s dedication, perfectionism and exemplary work ethic were recognized by all of his colleagues. Steve’s contributions as a member of our senior leadership team and, most importantly, as a good friend, will be deeply missed. Please continue to keep Steve’s wife, Beth, and two sons, Michael and Matthew, in your thoughts and prayers,” Byerly said.

Welsh, who was 49 years old, held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and graduated with distinction from the Pennsylvania State University.
