The 2012 Barnes Buchanan Conference opened yesterday on an upbeat note. The outlook for 2012 deal flow is viewed positively. David Stang, senior vice president of Bank of America noted that equity markets are improving; and in particular the leveraged loan market for RMR is improving and the volume of deals is on the rise. "Activity is robust," Stang commented.

I'm in the middle of attending the ESI Forum and ESA Leadership Summit events co-located at the Omni Mandalay at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. On Tuesday I had the privilege of moderating the general luncheon session, titled, "The ESA Home Integrator -- A New Vision for the Residential Market."
First and foremost: happy holidays. Temperatures are dropping, snow is becoming a looming threat, our favorite stores are flooded with shoppers, and our fridges are filled with more sweets than we know what to do with: all of which are signs that the holiday season is upon us.
The California Alarm Association's (CAA) Board of Directors held its meeting at the Winter Convention being held December 8-10 in San Francisco. I arrived a few minutes early to grab a "good seat" from a journalist's perspective - a seat with a good view of everything going on in the room.
