Vector Security’s three year-old Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) scholarship program, saw its largest applicant numbers to date. This year, 105 applications were received, doubling last year’s number. If the adage “the third time is the charm” is a predictor of what will come, it certainly held true when it came to the results of Vector Security’s 2011 Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) scholarship program, the company stated.
In the security industry you’ll see the occasional police report regarding a break-in or a 911 call, but you don’t often see a 911 call discussing a rampaging llama or kids not sharing the play ground equipment (Really? 911? Seriously?). In the business of security, the relationship between law enforcement and the security company is critical
I have had the 2011 SDM Monitoring TODAY supplement sitting on the side of my desk for some time. In our busy world we often don’t get to take the time to read a feature article but I know there are good things to be learned so I keep it close.
While getting ready for Security, SDM and smartHOME magazines’ virtual tradeshow, iSecurity, on March 2, 2011, the question occurred to me: When was the first virtual tradeshow?
The ultimate personalized luxury accessory knows its owner and not even an 'Open Sesame' will release the treasures within. This $825 wallet from Dunhill London is made of a 'virtually indestructible' carbon fiber and features a biometric fingerprint sensor. It will only open at a swipe of the correct finger.
I fly out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Los Angeles whenever I’m headed to industry events, and right now I’m in the middle of getting my travel arrangements together for ISC West. Because my home airport is LAX, it caught my attention to see press reports and video talking about LAX using the Situator from NICEin LAX's ARRC. ARCC?
On Feb. 2, 2011, the 2011 Groundhog Day snowstorm, as some are calling it, dumped an excess of five inches of snow in 21 states and resulted in at least 13,000 cancelled flights. The storm happened just a day before the Axis A&E Technology Summit 2011 was scheduled to begin February 3 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Fla., followed by a three-day cruise to the Bahamas aboard the Royal Caribbean’s Monarch of the Seas vessel. For everyone who made it down to Florida for the event from those 21 states, saying the contrast and relief from the cold and snow was “nice” is an understatement. And the timing, while causing some travel headaches, couldn’t have been any more perfect to maximize appreciation of the event’s sunny location.
What do Doyle Security, Monitronics, Alarmco, and ADT Security Services all have in common? Their employees won top honors last year in the CSAA Central Station Excellence Awards.
Today, I'm doing one of the things I hate most: packing. SDM's editorial offices are moving this weekend to new digs at 155 N. Pfingsten Road, Suite 205, Deerfield, Ill. 60015. I'm excited to be relocating to a building that houses a larger group of BNP Media employees, and I'm looking forward to exploring a new "neighborhood" next Monday.
