Rather than the traditional panel made up of security insiders from a variety of companies discussing a variety of topics, this year’s State of the Industry session took a slightly different approach. The audience, which outnumbered chairs, was treated to a more of a highly focused case study featuring three security and IT professionals from Paramount Pictures discussing the studio’s security overhaul to address a number of previous concerns.
Preparation was the main theme of yesterday’s State of the Industry keynote, as panelists offered insights and opinions on risk mitigation, security’s place in the business process and preparing the next generation of security industry leaders.
During yesterday’s hour-long State of the Industry session, panelists provided insights on four pressing topics within the industry: “as a service,” consumerization, the emergence of security functions, and standards and interoperability.
When approaching room 502 of the Sands Convention Center for ISC West’s State of the Industry presentation, there was a noticeable sprinkling of yellow scarf- or tie-attired ISC West personnel throughout the registration level calling out directions one could follow to the State of the Market.
