The Security Industry Association (SIA) announced that Kathleen Carroll, director of government relations for HID Global, is the new Chair of the Government Relations Committee. The announcement was made at the opening of the SIA Government Summit, which took place June 19-20 at the Embassy Suites Washington Convention Center Hotel in Washington D.C. Carroll succeeds Will-Burt Company’s John Stroia in this role.

“Kathleen served as the architect of SIA’s Privacy Framework and led the fight against restrictive state legislation to curb the use of security technologies,” said Don Erickson, chief executive officer and former government relations director of SIA. “Kathleen has been an effective government relations leader for SIA and our industry.”

Carroll oversees HID Global’s radio frequency (RF) technology privacy and policy initiatives, including pending legislation in the 50 states and national and international policies and regulations. She also works to support public policies that address national identity management and cyber-security initiatives.
