ONVIF, a global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced that it will be a featured speaker at the upcoming PSA TEC 2019, an education and networking event for systems integrators, to be held March 11-14, in Denver, Colo.

To highlight the role of access control in the burgeoning smart building market, David Busco of Anixter will present on behalf of ONVIF in the session “Driving the Future: How Interoperability Standards in Access Control Can Enable Smart Building Success” from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12. The session will explore why interoperability standards and an open platform approach to access control are becoming necessary components of an intelligent building.

“Common interfaces such as ONVIF are necessary to standardize the communication pathways between different sensors and management platforms for current and future IoT functionality,” said Per Björkdahl, chair of the ONVIF Steering Committee. “Being able to receive and export data in a universal manner is the key to realizing the potential of a smart facility.”

TEC 2019 features education and certification programs as well as networking opportunities and dedicated exhibit hours designed to advance the skills of industry professionals. Over 100 sessions and workshops are being offered to attendees during the three day event. Attendees can view the dedicated tracks which are based on job function by visiting www.psatec.com/sessions/.

A security industry veteran of more than 13 years, Busco serves as director of marketing for global security solutions at Anixter, a longtime ONVIF member company that is active in many areas of the technical development of ONVIF specifications.
