ZKAccess offers a free 3-credit CEU-accredited course, “Advanced Biometric Access Control.” The class is designed to teach physical security integrators all they need to know to successfully migrate from traditional card access systems to biometrics.
The Department of Public Safety’s Fingerprint Applicant Services of Texas (FAST) program will soon expand its current network of 93 enrollment facilities to include 55 new locations — specifically in more rural areas — where secure and convenient fingerprint-based background checks will be provided at IdentoGO Centers by MorphoTrust USA (Safran), Billerica, Mass. Texas awarded the contract to MorphoTrust, making it the first state to implement the company’s new, state-of-the-art commercial enrollment platform.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office successfully deployed a mobile identification solution that allows officers to capture and search fingerprints against state and national FBI databases from any location. The solution, supplied by the U.S. company MorphoTrak, part of the global Morpho (Safran) group of companies, consists of a Morpho Maestro gateway for system communications and 65 cell phone-size MorphoIDent mobile devices for capturing fingerprints in the field.
Pro-Watch security management system from Honeywell allows integrators to accommodate virtually any access control need through expanded support for wireless locksets and biometric readers.
MorphoTrak, Alexandra, Va., a Morpho (Safran) company, announced its 40th anniversary as the pioneer developer of automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS). The last four decades have been revolutionary in helping law enforcement fight crime, the company stated.
For decades smart cards and biometrics have been part of the access credentialing conversation. More recently, the potential of mobile credentials on a phone have entered the discussion. But in an industry that has been historically slow to move off the entrenched platforms of proximity or even mag stripe, these discussions have often revolved around the question, ‘What’s next?’ rather than, ‘What’s happening now?’
Biometric access control solution provider FST21 has rebranded itself as FST Biometrics, unveiling the new name yesterday at ISC West. As part of the rebranding, the company will further concentrate its efforts on in-motion identification (IMID) technology with its IMID Access, IMID Digital Doorman, IMID Solo and other solutions.
Under a new strategic partnership, EyeLock Inc. and Stanley Security Solutions (SSS) will work to further commercialize EyeLock’s iris-biometric offerings.
ISC West 2013 and “convergence” have arrived. The vision of end-to-end security is a reality for the systems integrators who have rounded out their product lines, acquired internal skill sets, and strategically partnered to address it. The enabling technologies and price points are integrating end-to-end solutions and evolving security to new heights. Miniature sensors and mobile devices are the sophisticated endpoints driving unstructured data through faster networks and middleware to back-end storage and cloud architectures.
