Dave Pedigo is the senior director of emerging trends at the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association. Dave oversees CEDIA’s Technology Advisory Group, whose mission is to ensure long-term member prosperity by identifying and informing members and industry partners on emerging trends, threats and opportunities within the custom electronic channel.
When invited to speak about the industry’s emerging trends, I often pose the question, “Do you think the CEDIA industry is in an evolutionary or revolutionary phase?” In most years, the attendees and I agree we are in an evolutionary time in which new products are iterative improvements upon existing products.
How often do you work with architects, builders and interior designers? Often it is hard to explain how different technologies will impact a project. Working with your industry partners in the planning stages of a project just got easier.
Lion, ice cream sandwich, iOS, Android smartphone, tablet, mobility, the cloud, streaming services, and so on and so on. The amount of innovation and change over the last few years is incredible, and to many — including me — it can feel overwhelming. Less comforting is knowing that the pace at which these products come out will only speed up in the coming years.
