ADT announced the nationwide availability of ADT Canopy, a month-to-month contract service with 24/7 professional security monitoring via LG Smart Security. ADT Canopy will also extend their intrusion detection and panic response service offerings through new partnerships with leading smart home and consumer electronics brands, including Samsung, NETGEAR and Glympse.

ADS Security (ADS), a regional electronic security and automation company headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., has acquired the assets of Falcon Fire Systems in the Charleston, S.C., market. ADS will retain the Falcon Fire Systems office, establishing it as the third ADS location in South Carolina and the company’s 22nd branch location overall. 

Sonitrol, a unit of Stanley Black & Decker’s Security division with headquarters in Indianapolis, reported it reached a new milestone by assisting with 175,000 documented criminal apprehensions since 1977, when the company first began recording apprehension statistics.

Member companies of the Illinois Electronic Security Association (IESA) voted yesterday to end their chartered chapter relationship with the Electronic Security Association (ESA) by a vote of 38 to 7 in favor of the split.

In Michigan, a group of plaintiffs filed an action against the defendant security company claiming that the security company violated the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) by failing to pay the plaintiffs time and a half for the time they worked in excess of 40 hours per work week. The defendant security company filed a motion for summary judgment to dismiss the action.

AFA Protective Systems, Inc. has acquired the alarm business assets of Pro-Tech Security Ltd., effective November 1, 2016.
